CAMERON’S BREWING MURAL PROJECT
Cameron’s Brewing wanted something bold and eye-catching to enhance their exterior and attract more attention from the street, as well as create a pleasant visual experience for patrons enjoying their summer patio. This led to a project involving three distinct murals: two typography-based pieces and one graphic design.
Inspiration & Concept Development
The primary goal for this project was to create a visual identity that would stand out and attract attention from passersby while reinforcing the brewery’s brand. The client wanted a design that would clearly communicate what Cameron’s Brewing is about: craft beer and a welcoming retail experience. To achieve this, we opted for clean, bold typography that would be highly visible against the industrial corrugated siding of the building.
We created two large murals featuring clear, simple messaging: “Craft Beer Made Here” and “Retail Store”, ensuring that anyone approaching the brewery would immediately understand its purpose. Additionally, the logo mural on the left side of the building adds a strong branding element while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. Together, these murals provide a cohesive look that is both functional and visually striking, helping to enhance the overall experience for customers both outside on the patio and approaching from the street.
Challenges & Solutions
One of the biggest challenges we faced was working with the corrugated siding of the building. The wall’s surface wasn’t flat and had deep grooves, making stencil creation particularly tricky. Unlike a flat surface, corrugated walls require precise measurements of the actual surface area rather than the aggregated width and height. When cutting the stencil, it had to appear stretched to compensate for the grooves; otherwise, the design would look distorted once applied.
To address this challenge, we carefully measured the wall and custom-cut vinyl stencils accordingly. Once applied, the stretched stencils produced a normal-looking design when painted over the corrugation. We accessed the area using scaffolding, which allowed us to work safely and efficiently at different heights.
Techniques & Materials
For this project, we used vinyl stencils along with a base coat of primer, followed by 3-4 coats of white paint to ensure solid coverage and durability. The combination of primer and multiple coats was necessary to create a clean, sharp finish that would stand out even from a distance.
Impact & Feedback
The completed murals dramatically improved the exterior of Cameron’s Brewing, giving it a more inviting and professional appearance. The bold, clean designs ensure that no one passing by will miss the brewery, and customers on the patio now have an interesting visual element to enjoy. Additionally, the painted corrugation created a unique 3D effect due to the textured surface, adding depth and dimension to the final result.
Timeframe & Scale
The project took place during the summer when the weather was generally favorable—though at times, it was too hot to work comfortably in the midday sun. To manage this, we adjusted our schedule, starting later in the day to avoid fatigue and ensure proper paint application. Each mural took about 2-3 days to complete, resulting in a total timeframe of about a week for the entire project.
This project for Cameron’s Brewing was both challenging and rewarding, combining technical precision with creative design.
