LINDA ING WALL MURAL – 2014
Linda Ing had us paint this promotional wall mural to showcase her Real Estate brand.

When projecting this sign we had a space problem, the distance from the projector to the wall was too small. We fixed this by projecting on an angle and then skewing the image back to normal dimensions. This is a built-in feature of most all modern projectors. Once projected, it was traced with a pencil and a telescopic ladder was used to drawn in the mural sign. The ladder was in the extension ladder position as this is the standard normal long ladder position.
The artwork featured a drop shadow and was painted with a spray paint can. In order to make the drop shadow effective you have to do the artwork twice but slightly offset using a different color. So the darker color, when underneath the lighter color, gives the impression of a drop shadow. This is difficult with spray paint as spray paint comes out of the can very fast. You have only one shot to do this type of work right. In some ways, the fact you only have a one-shot gives a real human touch to it. Sometimes things can look too produced, having a slight inaccuracy only helps the piece. For the regular type beside the signature, we used a stencil. When placing the stencil on a ladder you run out of hands very fast. Our answer to this is to use tools belts with extra large pockets. This way we can have everything we need at arms lengths and this stops us from having to go up and down the ladder a lot.
