PIZZA PIZZA – EST. 1967 CIRCLE LOGO

As part of a bold rebranding effort, Pizza Pizza sought to reconnect with its roots by incorporating hand-painted signage throughout its restaurants. This initiative aimed to highlight their commitment to craftsmanship, reinforcing the idea that their pizza is made with care and tradition.

One of the standout elements of this rebranding was the “Est. 1967” circle logo, a nostalgic nod to one of Pizza Pizza’s original logos. The design features a clean, vintage-inspired layout with the company’s founding year prominently displayed in a bold, distressed font. Beneath it, the Pizza Pizza script logo is subtly incorporated, further reinforcing the brand’s heritage. This logo was not just a decoration—it was a statement of legacy, reminding customers of over five decades of serving fresh, quality pizza across Canada.

Project Challenges & Process:

  • The logo was painted using vinyl stencils to ensure crisp lines and maintain uniformity across multiple locations. Each stencil was carefully aligned to ensure perfect positioning, even when working with curved or textured surfaces.
  • Some locations required the logo to be applied directly onto newly installed faux brick walls, which introduced additional challenges. The rough texture of the surface meant that the paint could bleed, so we had to adjust techniques, using lighter coats and precise application methods to retain the crisp, aged aesthetic.
  • This project was executed in multiple locations across Ontario, from Ottawa to Niagara Falls, making logistics and consistency crucial. Since each restaurant had unique architectural differences, careful site assessments were required before beginning the painting process.
  • Since the branding had a hand-crafted vintage appeal, the final execution had to balance precision with an organic, aged look, ensuring that the signage looked authentic rather than overly polished.

The result was a high-impact, handcrafted look that aligned perfectly with Pizza Pizza’s rebranding strategy. The logo became an iconic piece of their new identity, helping to create a more inviting and authentic atmosphere for customers.
