MASON ROAD JUNIOR PUBLIC SCHOOL GYM MURAL PROJECT

This project was commissioned by a general contractor working with the Toronto Public School Board, responsible for various construction and renovation projects across schools in Toronto and the GTA. After a recent renovation and facelift of Mason Road Junior Public School’s gym, the final touch was updating the logo and wall design to give the space a fresh, modern look.

Inspiration & Concept Development

The goal for this project was to create a clean, bold design that matched the newly renovated gym’s aesthetic. The simple yet striking logo, featuring the school’s mascot, was designed to align perfectly with the blue and white stripes running across the gym walls. This cohesive design ties the entire space together, creating a unified and polished look.

Challenges & Solutions

The main challenge for this project was executing the design on a large scale—the logo stands at 20 feet in height. To handle the height and ensure precision, we used an indoor skyjack for safe and efficient access. Since the logo needed to be perfectly aligned with the existing stripes on the wall, careful measurement and planning were essential.

A stencil was used to ensure clean, sharp edges, and the contractors supplied high-quality paint to achieve a durable and vibrant finish. Despite the scale of the project, we completed the work within a single day thanks to thorough preparation and efficient execution.

Techniques & Materials

  • Stencil Technique: Used for precise application of the logo and lettering.
  • High-Quality Paint: Provided by the contractor, ensuring a professional and long-lasting finish.
  • Indoor Skyjack: Utilized for safe access to the high walls.

Impact & Feedback

The updated gym mural significantly enhances the space, making it more engaging and appealing for students. The clean, sharp design adds a professional touch to the gym, and the contractor was very pleased with the final result. We are confident that the students will enjoy their newly updated gym environment.

Timeframe & Scale

This project was completed in a single day. The mural covers a large section of the gym wall, with the logo standing 20 feet high, making it a prominent and eye-catching feature of the space.

This Mason Road Junior Public School mural was a great collaboration with the contractor, resulting in a polished and cohesive design that enhances the overall gym environment.
