SONY MUSIC TORONTO OFFICE LOBBY MURAL PROJECT

 

 

This project was a collaboration with a client who runs a printing house and occasionally requires our expertise for painting signage on rough surfaces. They engaged us to assist with a high-profile mural for Sony Music’s downtown Toronto office. The goal was to create a professional and polished display of Sony Music’s branding, along with the logos of its affiliates, prominently featured in the front lobby where visitors exit the elevators.

Inspiration & Concept Development

The objective was to present Sony Music’s brand and its affiliates in a clean, organized manner that aligned with the architectural elements of the space. The design featured multiple logos arranged in a precise layout, ensuring visual balance and harmony with the surrounding environment. Each logo was carefully positioned to align with the door height and elevator exit, creating a seamless and professional presentation.

Challenges & Solutions

One of the key challenges was working with the rough, uneven surface of the brick wall. Applying stencils on such a surface requires precision and adaptability, as the texture can cause voids and inconsistencies. To address this, we made on-site alterations to the stencils by cutting and taping them as needed to fit the irregular surface perfectly.

Additionally, touch-ups were necessary after the initial painting to ensure clean, sharp lines and consistent color coverage. Despite the challenges posed by the textured brick wall, our team worked efficiently and effectively, completing the project within a single day through careful planning and hard work.
