VISION GALLERY

Project Type: Hand-Painted Sign
Location: Art Gallery Exterior
Tools & Techniques: Hand-painting, primer, multiple top coats, clear epoxy resin
Duration: Completed in-studio before installation

Project Overview

Visions Gallery, an art space known for its eclectic and curated selection, approached us to create a hand-painted sign that would align with their unique aesthetic. Rather than opting for a traditional commercial sign, they selected a wood panel with a natural grain texture, which reflected the raw, artistic approach they wanted to showcase. The goal was to produce a simple yet striking sign that complemented the gallery’s minimalist yet thoughtful branding.

Process & Challenges

  • The selected wood panel had a beautiful natural texture, which the gallery wanted to preserve. Instead of sanding it down completely, we worked carefully to retain its grain while ensuring a smooth, paintable surface.
  • The board was first primed and painted with a rich, deep black base coat, creating a strong contrast for the lettering.
  • Using hand-painting techniques, we applied crisp white lettering that maintained a contemporary and refined look, ensuring the sign would be readable from a distance.
  • To further enhance the depth and richness of the finish, we coated the entire sign in a clear epoxy resin, which not only made the colors pop but also added a high-gloss protective layer against weathering and aging.

Installation & Final Results

Once completed, the sign was installed above the entrance to the gallery, seamlessly integrating with the modern yet industrial aesthetic of the space. The final product was both durable and visually striking, effectively communicating the gallery’s artistic vision. This project was a great example of how materials, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design can elevate a simple storefront sign into a work of art.
