WEATHER NETWORK MURAL
Location: Weather Network, Second Floor Landing Area
Inspiration and Concept:
The Weather Network approached us with the idea of transforming their second-floor landing area into an immersive weather-themed environment. The aim was to showcase the majestic beauty of weather patterns, specifically focusing on the awe-inspiring imagery of clouds and sunlight. The goal was to create a serene yet impactful mural that embodies the Network’s focus on weather and nature’s grandeur.
Techniques and Materials:
We began by carefully selecting imagery that highlighted the dynamic visual interplay of light and clouds. Using a projector, we mapped the design onto the curved and flat walls of the space. The project involved outlining the basic shapes and contours with hand-brushed techniques. To achieve the realistic softness and intricate detailing of the clouds, we used airbrush techniques for subtle blending and fine details. This combination allowed for a smooth transition between various shades of blue and white, capturing the depth and movement of the sky.
Challenges and Solutions:
One of the primary challenges was the curved nature of the wall, which required meticulous attention during the projection and painting phases. To address this, we frequently adjusted our angles and perspective to ensure the design remained cohesive and true to the intended concept. The mural also required careful layering to achieve the ethereal quality of sunlight filtering through the clouds.
Outcome:
Completed in approximately one week, the mural was a resounding success. The finished artwork transformed the space into a captivating environment that reflects the beauty and power of weather phenomena. Both the client and our team were thrilled with the results, and the mural now serves as a signature feature in the Weather Network’s office.
