CLIENT NEEDS & PROJECT SCOPE

This custom-painted trade show booth was created for Zebra Paper Converters, a company specializing in paper products. The goal was to transform a plain plywood booth into a striking and professional display that would capture attention at industry events.

The design prominently features:

  • Bold zebra stripes representing the brand’s identity.
  • A vibrant green leaf motif reinforcing the company’s eco-friendly focus.
  • The tagline “Leader of the Pack” to establish a strong brand presence.
  • Social media icons to encourage engagement and brand visibility.

Unlike digital prints or vinyl wraps, hand-painted elements ensured a rich, textured finish that made the booth stand out among competitors.

EXECUTION & TECHNIQUES

Transforming the raw plywood booth into a fully realized trade show display required careful planning and multiple steps.

  • Surface Preparation:
    • The plywood booth was unprimed, which meant it needed a high-quality primer before any paint application.
    • Without priming, paint tends to absorb unevenly and may peel over time, so this step was crucial for durability.
  • Painting the Zebra Stripes:
    • The zebra stripes were airbrushed using smooth gradients, incorporating black, white, and a subtle purple tone for depth.
    • Stencils were used to ensure clean, flowing lines across the panels.
  • Layered Leaf Technique:
    • A reusable stencil was custom-cut for the leaves, allowing for consistent yet varied placement.
    • Three different color values were applied to each leaf to create depth:
      1. Base Color: A mid-tone green that served as the foundation.
      2. Shadow Layer: A darker green was sprayed along the edges and inner curves to give a natural shadow effect.
      3. Highlight Layer: The lightest green was used for veins and stems, making the leaves pop.
    • A second stencil layer was applied for the central vein and finer details, giving the leaves a realistic dimensional look.
  • Final Touches & Logo Application:
    • The Zebra Paper Converters logo was placed in the center, surrounded by leaves to emphasize the brand’s identity.
    • The text and tagline were hand-lettered, ensuring a crisp and professional appearance.
    • The social media icons were carefully painted to ensure clear visibility at a distance.

FINAL IMPACT

The completed trade show booth transformed a plain plywood structure into an eye-catching display that embodied the Zebra Paper Converters brand. The combination of organic leaf elements and bold zebra patterns created a visually dynamic contrast, making the booth instantly recognizable.

By using hand-painted techniques, the display had a unique, high-quality finish that set it apart from traditional printed signage. The result was a professional, engaging, and durable booth that could be reused for multiple events.
