This painted booth was a fun project. We traveled to their warehouse location and painted the booth display there.
This booth was a bare plywood booth at first. So we had to prime the unpainted wood with a good quality primer. If you don’t prime wood the top coat paint will tend to not stick to the wood then anything you paint on it may peel off very shortly after.
The leaves on the booth were done using a reusable leaf stencil, the stencil was the outline of the leaf and the middle of the stem. When the stencil is used in various different positions it appears to be all different types of leaves. There are a few layers when painting the leaves. We used three different values. First, you paint your base colour, the base colour is the main colour of the leaf, in this case, it was the middle value of the three. Then its time for the darker colour with the stencil still on we gently spray in the darker colour. Generally form the sides and a little in the middle. When we spray in the darker colour we still leave a little bit of the lighter colour, we lightly dust the areas we want the darker colour on. For the last part, the lightest colour. This is what you would call the highlight. With the stencil still on we add another stencil, this additional stencil is for the middle stem and veins of the leafs. For the stem we sprayed in the lightest colour fairly solid. The stem of a leaf is usually very prominent. We then take off the second stencil but still leave on the original and or first stencil. We leave on the first stencil for final touch ups and tweaks. This is where we take all the colours and spray where we think is necessary.
